James McDowell

James Terry McDowell, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 1st, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted husband to Janice Ryan McDowell for 49 beautiful years, James lived a life marked by unwavering love, quiet strength, and deep faith.

A faithful member of Church on the Bluff for 45 years, James embodied the values of service, kindness, and humility. He was known for his tireless work ethic and his gentle spirit - always loving, always present, and always ready to lend a hand or share a smile.

James found joy in the simple pleasures of life; casting a line on a quiet morning, tending to his yard with care and pride, and growing beautiful things that reflected the warmth of his soul. His garden was a testament to his patience and his love for nurturing life.

He is survived by his beloved wife Janice, and their children David, Jimmy, and Teresa. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan, Andrew, Maddison, Traci, Landon, Trace, and Bobby Job Jr., each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

A celebration of James's life will be held on Friday November, 7, 2025 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home located at 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, AL 35244. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

James leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and integrity that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
