James Russell Hudson, known by family and friends as "Rusty", age 69 of Woodstock, AL, passed away suddenly on May 4, 2026.

Born on June 25, 1956 in Oneonta, AL to Wayburn and Betty Edwards Hudson,

He spent his career in Data Processing, beginning as a Computer Operator and retiring as a Sr. Technical Support Engineer. Outside of work, Rusty was happiest when he was watching old movies, especially the ones with cowboys.

Rusty is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Deborah (Debbie) Mathews Hudson, his mother, Betty Edwards Hudson. One estranged daughter from a previous marriage. Mother-in-law Nell Sansing Mathews, Michael (Kimberly) Mathews who he thought of as his brother instead of brother-in-law, nephews Wally Franklin III, Ritchie (Tinsley) Franklin, niece Casey (Jason) Ramsey. Great nephews Emmett and Samuel Franklin, and Michael Ramsey. Great nieces Olive Ramsey and Amelia Franklin. A very special cousin and his family, Clint (Alicia) Blackmon, and C.J. Blackmon. In addition to immediate family, he leaves several cousins and extended family members, as well as his "adopted" children & grandchildren of the Kizziah family. He was preceded in death by his father Wayburn R. Hudson, and father-in-law Wilber M. Mathews.

A memorial service to celebrate Rusty's life will be announced and held on a later date
