James Bonds

James Edward Bonds, age 77, passed away on December 30th, 2021 with his family by his side.

James retired from the Birmingham News after many years of service in the Press Room.

He was preceded in death by parents, George Fred Bonds, Sr. and Mary Lou Ray Bonds; brothers, George Fred, Jr. and George Truman Bonds; and a sister, Barbara Lambert.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carla Bonds and a son, Carl Edward Bonds; a sister, Mary Ann Hunt of Rochestser, Minnesota and a brother Richard (Virginia) of Foley, AL; and  numerous other relatives.

Services will be Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Currie Jefferson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South in Hoover, AL.
