Jack A. Price, a beloved father, grandfather (Pa), and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024 at the age of 89. Jack's life was defined by his unwavering love for his family, his humor and his kind and generous spirit.
Jack was born on June 1, 1934 in Mt. Olive, Alabama. Upon graduation from Mortimer Jordan High School, Jack enlisted in the Army, serving for 2 years. Following his service, he enrolled in Alabama Polytechnic Institute, becoming a member of the first graduating class of the newly named Auburn University in 1960 with a degree in Industrial Management. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.
Jack was an ardent Auburn Fan, usually donning his Auburn swag and cheering on his Tigers whenever the opportunity arose. For more than 30 years he held season tickets to home football games and often made trips to cheer on his team at rival stadiums.
Jack also was a dedicated golfer, playing several times a week and often traveling to golf destinations with his golfing buddies and even attending the Masters on several occasions. He played his last round of golf at age 87.
Jack worked for Ingersoll Rand for over 30 years, earning many Circle of Excellence awards and developing many lifelong friendships.
Always up for an adventure, Pa zip lined and white water rafted in Alaska in his 70’s and could be seen riding roller coasters well into his 80’s. He was always a good sport, entertaining his family and creating cherished memories by experiencing virtual reality through an Oculus or riding a mechanical horse.
Jack's legacy lives on through his devoted children and their families. He is survived by his daughters, Julie Lett (Lloyd) and Toni Taylor (Dan), who brought immense joy and pride into his life. Jack was also a proud and loving grandfather to Holden Taylor (Carlye), Hannah Taylor, Jordan Lett (Emma), Haley Slaughter (Tyler), and Kellie Lett. Pa was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, with another on the way, adding further joy and fulfillment to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Ted Price (Gwen). Each of them held a special place in his heart and will forever remember the wisdom, warmth, and love he shared with them.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Hilsman Price. Together, they shared a passion for adventure and exploration, traveling the world and cruising to exotic locations. Their enduring love and partnership were a cornerstone of Jack's life, and he often spoke fondly of the many wonderful years they shared together.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Lois Price, brothers, Roy and Jimmy Price, sisters, Sue Bates, Mary Ann Price, and Alice Kirk.
