Helen "Nina" Reeves

Helen Lorene (Nina) Hicks Reeves entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 with her beloved husband by her side.

Nina was born on August 15th, 1941 to her parents Shelly Hicks and Lillie Armstrong Hicks in Birmingham, AL. Nina Married Lee M. Reeves on October 18th, 1974 in Birmingham. The two were life-long companions for 52 wonderful years.

Nina enjoyed a career in Corporate Finance for many years before retiring in 1989. She enjoyed playing competitive tennis and loved to fish. One of her most favorite pastimes was teaching children how to fish with her husband. Nina’s heart was in “helps” and giving. She never refused lending a hand when needed. Causes that particularly touched her heart were St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Oak Mountain Missions, Jimmy Hale Mission, Jessie’s Place, and many more mission programs.

Nina was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Hicks, and brothers Isaac, Samuel and William Hicks.

She is survived by her husband Lee, Step-son Brent (Amy), granddaughters Brittany and Kaitlynn, and closest niece Lana Trest (Alan).

The family would like to extend thanks to the entire complement of doctors and staff at Grandview Medical Center and Cancer Center. A very special thanks to Sara Parker, who stayed with Nina during her home hospice period. Thank you also to Aveanna Health Care Hospice.

A grave-side service will be held at 10am on August 3rd, 2026 at Currie Jefferson Memorial Gardens located at HWY150 / 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, AL. A memorial service will follow at 1pm at First Baptist Church, 2209 Lakeshore Drive, Homewood, AL 35209.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request a charitable donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Oak Mountain Missions, Jimmy Hale Mission, Jessie’s Place, or a charity of your choosing
