Hal Rudisill Harris, Jr., age 63, passed away at his home in Hoover, AL, on January 29th, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal R. Harris, Sr. and Mary Harris; and brother, Robert Landis Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia Harris; his brother, David Harris; his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sarah Harris; his daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Eric Boyd; his grandchildren, Emily, Tyler, and Blake Harris and Maggie Boyd; his sister-in-law, Debbie Harris Brock; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Leigh and Bryan Laney; his nieces, Keighly, Lauren, and Maris; and many other loved friends and family members.

Hal grew up in Anniston, AL, and soon fell in love with and married his wife, Lydia. He attended Auburn University and graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. As a young entrepreneur, he started Composition Lab, Time & Temperature, and Free Home Guide. Hal earned an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He taught Business, Accounting, & Computer courses at Bevill State & Jefferson State Community Colleges until he retired in 2018. He enjoyed helping his students and made his courses interesting and entertaining.

Hal was also a dedicated realtor, broker, and owner of Bluff Park Realty. He often said that his favorite thing about being a realtor was when he could help a home buyer, especially a first-time home buyer, find the perfect house.

Hal was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for several years. His family will always cherish his strong faith and heart.

Hal loved his family! He often spoke of how blessed he was to have such wonderful children and cuties (grandchildren). Hal cherished time with all his family whether we were playing ping pong, watching football, going to the lake, or simply sharing a meal together. Time with family was always special and filled with fun, laughter, and love. Hal is remembered for his smile, faith, and positive attitude.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Shades Crest Baptist Building Fund would be appreciated. You can donate online here.
