Gregory Jay Taylor returned to his heavenly home on Monday, May 18th, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama after a long illness.
Greg was born in Jackson, Tennessee on September 16th, 1960. One of three boys, he grew up in the tight knit community of Grand Junction, TN. He spent his youth riding horses, working on his family's farm, and participating in everything from football to musical theater at Fayette Academy. He then attended Samford University, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and graduated with a degree in Business. Greg would later serve as the chairman of the Advisory Board for Samford's Brock School of Business.
Greg was known and loved by many for his kind and outgoing manner. He never met a stranger, and he never hesitated to help those in need. While Greg was very successful in the business world - serving as a Vice President for companies in the US (Case New Holland, Agribank) and in Europe (Iveco) - his greatest treasures in life were his family, his friends, and his faith.
Greg is reunited in death with his father, Billy Taylor, and his older brother, Tim Taylor. He is survived by his devoted wife, Pam Taylor of Hoover, AL, his mother, Betty Taylor of Collierville, TN, and his brother Chris Taylor (Arwen) of Collierville, TN. He is also survived by his beloved daughters, Amanda Taylor of Kennesaw, GA and Maddie Pozzo (Eric) of Hoover, AL. He was delighted to be called "Pop" by his two grandchildren, Evie and Christian Pozzo of Hoover, AL. Additionally Greg leaves behind cherished aunts and uncles, brother and sisters in law, as well as several nieces and nephews who he greatly enjoyed spending time with.
A memorial service celebrating Greg's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers we ask that contributions be made in Greg's memory to either Special Equestrians of Birmingham, AL (www.specialequest.org) or Samford's Brock School of Business (https://www.samford.edu/business/giving)
