George William Manning passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025. He was a devoted husband to Tandy Crisan Manning, father to Daniel Manning, Daniel Brawdy and Cindy Sweatt; brother, uncle and friend to many. George was also a soldier serving our country valiantly. His most treasured role was that of grandfather, even his friends called him Papaw.

His grandchildren William and Michael Manning, Joey and Kaleb Sweatt, Trystain, Charles, Nick, Kelsey and Daisy Brawdy all have memories that speak to George as a grandfather and a man.

His vegetable garden and the ease and dexterity with which he cracked walnuts to feed them the good part. He played and watched golf with grandsons one of whom would go on to make a living as a golf instructor…they “absolutely loved hanging out with Papaw” and valued his advice. He found joy in the simplest pleasures in life and in his presence others did the same. George was a wise man who passed what life had taught him unto all who knew him and he will live on in that wisdom, He was a hard worker who was happiest around his family and asked very little for himself.

It is hard to loose a man like George Manning , there are too few of them in the world. He loved greatly and was greatly loved. He will be much mourned and missed until we see him again.
