Eric Scott Stell, 59, of Calera, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2022. Scott was born in December 1962 to Billy and Ellie Stell. Scott graduated from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, in 1981. He received his Bachelor’s degree in theoretical math from the University of Montevallo. Scott later earned a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from William Carey College. Scott spent most of his adult life as an investment advisor. Scott loved reading, hunting, fishing, and Alabama football. Scott was a faithful member of Vestavia Primitive Baptist Church. Scott is survived by his loving wife of twenty-two years, Joan Vance Stell; daughter, Amanda Grace Chance (Charlottesville, VA) ; son, William David Stell (Buffalo, NY); stepson, Kristian Alexander Kemp and his wife Fannie (San Diego, CA); granddaughters, Braelynn and Violet Chance (Charlottesville, VA); mother, Eloise Stell-Mizzell and her husband Vernon Mizzell (Holly Pond, AL); sister, Elizabeth McCrea and her husband Nelson (Columbiana, AL). Scott is preceded in death by his son, Jackson Logan Stell; and his father, Billy Logan Stell. Scott will be laid to rest on August 18, 2022, Curre-Jefferson Funeral Home officiating. Visitation at 10:30 am, with funeral services following immediately at 11:00. A meal will be provided following services at Vestavia Primitive Baptist Church, located at 2308 Old Columbiana Road, Vestavia Hills, Alabama 35216.
