Eleanor Reid

Eleanor Reid went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 6, 2023 at the age of 93.  She was a devout Catholic instilling her strong faith and values into everything she did.

Eleanor was married to the love of her life, Calvin, for 66 years.  Together they built Calvin Reid Construction Co., Inc. and worked side by side in the home building industry for over 50 years.  Hard work, dedication and their relentless work ethic helped their company achieve much success.

 Eleanor’s greatest joy was time spent with family, whether at the lake, beach, ball parks, or recitals. “Memaw” was always there.   She loved without conditions, helped without expectations and always offered her love and support.  She was the matriarch of her family.

She is survived by her daughter Diane (Philip) Hughes and son Dennis (Elaine) Reid, her grandchildren Michele (Renn) Williams, Melissa (Winston) Bradley, Blake (Jessie) Hughes, and 5 great granddaughters.

Eleanor is preceded by her mother Elizabeth Yeackle, father William Yeackle, brother Joseph Yeackle and grandson Justin Reid.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the nurses and staff at Aspire Physical Recovery Center at Cahaba River and Compassus for their loving care. 

Visitation will be at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday July 10, 2023 at 9:00 am with the service at 10:00 am.  Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Garden, South.
