Eleanor Sansing Brasher, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, wife, and dear friend, passed away on August 31, 2026, at the age of 88. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, faith, family, and beautiful memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Eleanor was born on April 22, 1938, and was a proud native of Bibbville, Alabama. She later called Montgomery home before settling in Vestavia Hills, where she spent her later years. A graduate of Tuscaloosa High School in 1956, Eleanor carried with her throughout life a warm Southern spirit, a gracious nature, and an appreciation for the people and places that made her life special.

Eleanor had a way of bringing beauty into the world around her. She loved flowers, long walks in nature, music, travel, beautiful clothes, and cosmetics. Her love of beauty became a career she truly enjoyed, as she worked for many years as an Estée Lauder consultant and cosmetics sales representative at Belk department store. She loved style and always took pride in looking her best. More importantly, she enjoyed making other people feel beautiful and special.

But the greatest joy of Eleanor's life was her family. She treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great pride in each of them. Family was never simply a part of her life-it was at the heart of it. The memories made together, the conversations shared, the celebrations, the travels, and the simple everyday moments were among her greatest treasures.

Eleanor was also a woman of deep faith. A member of Riverchase United Methodist Church, she especially loved Bible study and the opportunity to learn, reflect, and grow in her faith. Her faith gave her strength throughout her life and was a source of comfort and peace.

Eleanor knew both great love and great loss. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Roberta Martin Sansing and William Arthur Sansing; her beloved husband, Jimmy Lee "Jim" Brasher, with whom she shared 32 years of marriage; her brother, Ray Sansing; and the father of her children, Bill Hendrix.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherri Horton and her husband, Henry B. "Buck" Horton, and Keli Smitherman and her husband, David. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Lindsey Horton Sway and her husband, Rob; Henry Bradley Horton and his wife, Priscilla; Spencer Martin Rocheleau; and David Zachary Smitherman and his wife, Chelsea. Her legacy of love continues through her great-grandchildren, Natalie Windsor, Rhysee William, Rylee Taylor, and Vivien Sibyl Sway.

Those who knew Eleanor will remember her beautiful spirit, her sense of style, her love of flowers and music, her appreciation for life's simple pleasures, and the special way she loved her family. She had a gift for making life a little more beautiful simply by being in it.

Her family will miss her deeply-the sound of her voice, her stories, her laughter, her wisdom, and all the little things that made her uniquely Eleanor. Though she is no longer with them, the love she gave so freely will continue through the generations she leaves behind.

Eleanor's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with faith, family, friendship, love, and memories. She will be forever cherished and never forgotten.
