Earnest Franklin

Earnest Lee Franklin, of Bessemer, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the age of 70. He retired from UPS after 30 years of service. Afterward, Earnie worked for Mountain Lakes Resort in Guntersville, AL in the security department for 10 years. He enjoyed golfing and camping.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lecil Franklin; mother, Octavia Franklin; and brother, Bruce Franklin. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Dodson Franklin; his son, Justin Lee Franklin; brothers, Charles Ray Franklin (June), Bobby Franklin (Wanda), and David Franklin (Stacey); sisters, Sara Prince (Marlin), Cheryl Tucker, and Linda Lindley; 20 nieces nephews; 21 great nieces and nephews; and 7 great great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11-1, Friday, June 9, 2017, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral will follow in the chapel at 1:00, Larry Massey officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. The family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
