Donald Dennis Batson

Donald Dennis Batson, beloved pastor, husband, and cherished father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Hoover, Alabama, on March 28, 2024, at the age of 78.

Donald was born on June 3, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama, and spent his formative years in Bessemer. He dedicated over 50 years of his life to serving as a pastor, touching the lives of countless individuals with his unwavering faith, compassion, and wisdom.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Treba Batson, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. He is also survived by his sons, Marc Batson and Paul Batson, along with their families. Marc, accompanied by his children Sawyer, Marcie and Megan.  Paul, joined by his wife Jennifer and their children Halle and her husband Aaron, Katie, Jacob, Marignima and her husband Matt, and Joshua, mourn the loss of their beloved “Pop”.

Donald is also survived by his brother Jerry Batson and his wife Pat, and sister Linda Meredith and her husband Raymond. He cherished the bonds of family and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience.

Donald found immense joy in his role as a grandfather and delighted in spending time with his grandchildren. His passions extended beyond the pulpit, as he enjoyed watching baseball and sharing in the simple pleasures of life with those he held dear.

A celebration of Donald's life will be held at Hunter Street Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

Donald Dennis Batson will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who were touched by his presence.
