Charles Matthew Diggs, a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026.
Born on October 11, 1946, in Waynesboro, Virginia, Charles was the son of the late Matthew Lloyd Diggs and Virginia Elizabeth Diggs. He spent his formative years in Waynesboro before moving to Richmond, Virginia, to complete his education and launch what would become a distinguished and lifelong career in banking.
Beyond his professional life, Charles was a man who found peace and joy in nature. His favorite hobby was fishing, a pastime that perfectly reflected his patient and gentle soul. Whether he was on a quiet lake or a flowing river, those hours spent with a line in the water were among his happiest.
Charles's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Patricia Marable Diggs. Together, they built a life centered on love and stability. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness carried on by:
· His children: Sons Scott Diggs and Travis Diggs, and daughter Tracee Diggs Traylor.
· His six beloved grandchildren: Austin Diggs, Miller Diggs, Charles Walker Traylor, Mary Hayes Traylor, Morgan Diggs Beck, and AnneRilee Diggs, all of whom will forever cherish their "Grandaddy."
