Charles David Campbell, age 75, of Chelsea, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, surrounded by his family. Alabama was always home. Known to everyone as David, he was born in Pelham on June 5, 1951, to James Lincoln Campbell and Mary Charles Campbell, and later made his home in Hoover before settling in Chelsea. David was a talented engineer who spent more than 30 years at BellSouth and Cisco before retiring from West Corporation. In his free time, he put that same problem-solving mind to work on woodworking projects and fixing his cars and motorcycle. Above everything else, David valued family. He loved trips to the lake and vacations at the beach, each adventure with Barbara by his side. At home, meals at the dinner table often stretched long past the last bite, as his stories kept everyone entertained. Humor and kindness defined him. His dry wit could find the laugh in any moment, and his warmth shaped the way he treated everyone he met. Few people walked away from a conversation with David without feeling better than when they started. Preceded in death by his parents, David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara; his sister, Della Montgomery; his daughter, Jennifer Campbell Jenkins; his son, Jeff Campbell; and his grandchildren, Campbell Jenkins, Carlie Jenkins, Hayes Campbell, Bonnie Campbell, and Maggie Campbell-Rhew.
