Cathy Green

Cathy Hawkins Green of Alabaster, Alabama passed into eternity with her Lord and Savior on September 1, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Cathy was born to Arthur Alan Hawkins, JR. and Ressie Mae Brasher Hawkins on March 14, 1957 in Columbiana, Alabama.

Cathy was blessed with godly parents who took her to church starting at the age of seven years old. Her mother knelt with her at the living room couch and prayed with her to ask Jesus into her heart. This decision began a journey to a strong love and faith in Jesus Christ. That light shined to everyone around her through the life she lived. She met her loving husband in a Sunday school class by offering to share her Bible with him. He says he does not remember the lesson taught that day, but he remembers those pretty legs that Bible was sitting on.

Cathy and Doug were married on January 16, 1981. They had two wonderful children, Ben and Amy. Cathy was a devoted mother. She loved and cared for her kids well. Later they were blessed with six grandchildren. Cathy wore the title of 'Gigi' with pride and adored her grandkids. Gigi knew the value of spending time with her grands. If they asked to come to her house, her answer was always, yes! She always said she knew one day they'd be teenagers and would rather hang out with friends, so she was soaking it all in. Because of that, her grandkids loved going to 'Gigi's House' every chance they could.

Cathy would say often that 'God is SO GOOD!' no matter what was going on in her life. She knew, because of the relationship she had with God, that God was in control of all circumstances.

Cathy has been a faithful member of Kingwood Church since she was seven years old. She and Doug made sure that devotion was passed on to their children and now their grandchildren.

Cathy is survived by her mother, Ressie Hawkins, husband Doug Green, son Ben (Jordan), daughter Amy (Chris), grandchildren Brody, Barron, Tucker, Ellie, Jackson and Anna. She is preceded in death by her father Allen Hawkins, grandsons Parker David Green, Noah David Green.

Cathy will be missed by all of those who love her, but we are filled with hope and peace knowing we will see her again in heaven.
