Burnie Hill

April 23, 1917 — June 29, 2005


of Homewood, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at the age of 88. He was from a family of twenty one children. Mr. Hill was a WWII veteran and a longtime member of Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a 33rd degree mason with the North Carolina Chapter. He was the owner of Hill Variety in Woodlawn and worked at John's Nursery & Landscape for more than 20 years. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Hill. He was a loving husband for 67 years and a loving father and grandfather who was always there for his family. He is survived by his wife, Marie Hill of Homewood; a son, Donald L. Hill (Susie) of Lewisville, NC; two daughters, Carol Keller (Ed) of Birmingham and Roxanne Wise (Luke) of Vestavia; seven grandchildren, Donna Allen, Steve and Mark Hill, David and Keith Keller, Andrea and Michael Mason; eight great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Thomas of Polkton, NC and Dorothy Thompson of Florida; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1, 2005, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kevin Colvard officiating. Donations may be made to Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Currie-Jefferson directing.
