Bob Thompson

of Cahaba Heights, passed away on May 3, 2008 at the age of 83. He was a member of Shades Mountain Independent Church and was retired Tax Assessor of Shelby County. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Thompson was a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Thompson, a daughter, Ginger Smith and a brother, Dan Thompson. He is survived by a son, Rob Thompson (Nancy) of Cahaba Heights; a daughter, Kathy Hanson (Worth) of Grand Rapids, MI; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Gene Thompson (Martha) of Kerville, TX; and a sister, Francis Whitley (Cliff) of Alabaster. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Barry Bruce officiating. Interment will be in Elliotsville Cemetery.
