Bess Ramey Speegle, age 82, of Shelby County, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. She was born in Marion, AL. After graduating from high school, she lived in Birmingham, where she met Alan Speegle. Following their marriage, they were eager to build a family together. She was a loving and patient stay-at-home mom to her three sons until they became somewhat self-sufficient. She later worked in retail clothing sales and insurance, ultimately finding her favorite role in interior décor retail.
She was a member of Hoover Church of Christ, Sandy Springs Church of Christ, Riverchase Church of Christ, and Grace Church; she additionally visited at VHBC and Church of the Highlands with family. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Concordia, Vikings, and Cherimie dance clubs. She was most proud of raising her three boys Chad, Cris, and Jon Paul with her husband Alan. Being outnumbered in the house she went along with what the boys wanted to do including camping trips and countless hours at the ballparks, soccer field, and basketball court. She is survived by her husband Alan of 58 years, sons Chad and Cris (Lisa) Speegle, grandchildren Hayden and Porter, sister-in-law Anne Hurt, brother-in-law Wayne Speegle, nieces and nephews Robert (Edie), Richard, and Ryan (Danielle) Ramey , Sheree Hutchens (Mike), Lisa Whittington (Wilson), Laurie Morrison (Jeff). She was preceded in death by her father Robert Daniel Ramey, her mother Carnell Caudle Weeks, her brother Don , and her son Jon Paul Speegle.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, January 24th from 1-2 at Jefferson Memorial in Hoover with service at 2:00 p.m. and burial immediately following at Jefferson Memorial in Hoover, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Auxiliary of Big Oak Ranch
