Barbara Ann Thorn, age 85, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away on October 9th, 2026, at her residence.

Born on July 9th, 1941, in Jefferson County to the late Hugh and Elizabeth Smith. Barbara enjoyed a career that included BellSouth, Advertising, and Samford University. She loved her friends and family. She enjoyed eating out with friends every Tuesday at different restaurants, playing bunco, and vacationing in Orange Beach. Barbara was a member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church. She believed in small acts of kindness to all animals and loved all cats and dogs. Barbara's smile could brighten any room, and her gentle personality made every day lighter.

In 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Thorn, with whom she spent 66 years as his beloved wife and partner. During his time of Navy Service, they lived in Charleston, South Carolina, and later moved to Birmingham, Alabama.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry; their three children, Jeff Thorn (Steven), Brian Thorn (Suzanne), and Andrea Click (James); her sister Dinah Bates; and her four cherished grandchildren, Sydney, Aiden, Emmie, and Sam.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on Thursday, October 15th, 2026, at 11:00 am. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
