Mrs. Aly Mai, also known as Bà Nguyễn Thị Quý, passed away peacefully in her home on September 4th, 2024, at the age of 81. Aly was born on January 1st, 1943 in Hạ Long Bay, Việt Nam to Ông Nguyễn Vân Sinh and Bà Đỗ Thị Cải. She was a beloved daughter, sister, widow, mother, grandmother, and friend to anyone who met her. She was a cherished mother to Mai Khắc Tuấn, Mai Xuan Linh, Kelly Mai, and Devonne Trinh (Erik Trinh); and a proud grandmother to Richy Hoang, Phoebe Hoang, Isabella Trinh, and Annalisa Trinh. She is survived by her siblings, Bà Nguyễn Mình Hợi, Bà Nguyễn Thị Dậu, Ông Nguyễn Khánh, and Ông Nguyễn Thành. Aly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ông Mai Khắc Trọng; and her siblings, Ông Nguyễn Vân Siêu, and Bà Nguyễn Thị Bích Vân.
She has lived in Việt Nam, Laos, Thailand, the Philippines, and the USA, where she's touched the hearts of many people with her immeasurable kindness and unconditional love. Anyone who met her became her friend, and once you became her friend, you fell in love with her; and she was loved by so so many. She had a passion for helping people, improving the environment, and lifelong learning. During her time in Asia, she was a nurse and a teacher, and there is without a doubt that she has made an immense impact in numerous people's lives throughout the world.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing and visitation on Saturday, September 14th, 2024 at 1:00PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00PM, shortly after the visitation. Aly's passing has deeply wounded her family, and prayers for them would be greatly appreciated during this time. Her family would like to thank all friends, Pelham Fire Department, Pelham Police, and Currie-Jefferson for all of their help and care for Aly. She will be forever missed.
