Martha Jones

Martha W. Jones, aged 83, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away March 29, 2022. She was born in Columbus, Mississippi to Lloyd and Beatrice Wright on July 17, 1938. Martha is survived by her loving son Jay (Tonja); two grandchildren, Aly Pineda (Jarrod) and Austin Jones (Bekah), and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Theo. She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and her husband of over 61 years, Ken.

Martha grew up in Columbus, but the family moved to Tuscaloosa when she was a teenager, where she graduated from Tuscaloosa High School. This is also the place she met and married Ken. The two moved to Birmingham, where she became a mother and spent many years devoted to raising and caring for her family. She loved and doted on her grandchildren and they were crazy about their Mam maw. Her laugh and joking nature will surely be missed. She was a member of Riverchase United Methodist Church and a believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. We are rejoicing that she is celebrating in His presence today.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 10-11 am at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. A memorial service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South in Hoover, Alabama.
