Lewis M. (Pete) McLean, Jr. passed away September 13, 2022.
Pete was born in Dothan, Alabama, on January 22, 1940. He was the first child of Lewis M. McLean, Sr. and Elva Scott McLean.
As a child, he attended First Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He later became an usher, deacon, active Sunday School member and teacher as a member of First Baptist Church and Dawson Memorial Baptist Church of Birmingham. He loved singing in the Dawson choir because of his love of music and God’s word.
Pete graduated from Georgia Tech. He also graduated from Samford University with a Master of Business Administration and from Birmingham School of Law with a Juris Doctorate. He worked for US Steel for forty years as an attorney in Labor Relations. Pete loved Jesus Christ, his family, Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, and our Country.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Kay Holland McLean, daughter, Katherine McLean Taylor (Roddy Taylor), granddaughter, Abigail McLean Taylor, and his sister Linda McLean McAbee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dawson Memorial Baptist Church building fund, The American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity.
